Post Project Reflection #2--We'll Miss you Mrs. Durrant!!!

Name:  Molly Walsh

Project Name:  Thank you, Mrs. Durrant!

Group Members:  Molly, Gabby, and Tyler helped

Last week, I kept looking for the perfect time to give Mrs. Durrant the poster and goodbye peresent, but I couldn't find the right occasion.  I decided to wait until today, Monday, to give it to her.  I thought that since she taught me science, I would give everything to her during fourth period science class today.

By the time science rolled around, I was not sure when would be the best time to give Mrs. Durrant her going away gifts.  Luckily, one of my friends raised their hands and told her that I had an announcement.  Whether I liked it or not, it was the time to give Mrs. Durrant her present and poster. Actually it turned out that she really loved everything and was really appreciative, which made me really glad that I did this project.

When doing this project, I did see that there may be some obstacles that I would have to overcome.  For example, I was looking for the right time to give Mrs. Durrant everything.  I found that every moment I could think of had problems.  I didn't just want to barge into the middle of one of her classes and give her the poster.  I wanted to present everything to her at an appropriate time.  That time turned out to be in the middle of scinece class.  Gladly, though everything turned out amazing!!!

The poster that I made and got lots of freshmen and sophomores to sign turned out really pretty and Mrs. Durrant LOVED it.  She also really liked the Starbucks card, the chocolate, and the aviation themed coffee mug (to remind her of her time at AHS) that she got.   She really appreciated everything and really liked her poster and her goodies!!!

I want to maybe plan ahead a bit more and make sure that I schedule out a perfect time to complete my project.  Just because my project went really, really well this time doesn't mean I can stop planning.

I thought is was great that I took initiative and made Mrs. Durrant a huge poster and presents.  Also, I'm glad I got other people to sign it, so Mrs. Durrant will know she will be missed.  Something I want to improve on though, maybe is just being able to get up and not having to have anyone make an introduction for me.  It worked out that my friend was able to help me this time. In the future, though, there may not be anyone around to help.

Gabby and I worked together to make the poster and get it signed, which was not an easy feat.  We wanted it filled with signatures and that meant getting a lot of people to sign it.  We took it around to different people, and in the end the poster looked really good.  We really wanted to thank Mrs. Durrant for all of the great work she had done.

These are the picutres from when I was making a goodbye poster for Mrs. Durrant!  I gave her the poster and the gifts today and she really, really liked everything...mission accomplished!

Second Lead Project: Thank you Mrs. Durrant!!! :)

Name:  Molly Walsh, and I’m doing this project with Gabby
Project Title:  We’ll miss you Mrs. Durrant!!!
Start on: 6-14-11
Finish by: 6-17-11
Milestone dates:
6-15-11:  Make poster and get students to sign it.
6-16-11:  Get Ms. Durrant's going away present ready to go!
6-17-11: Finalize delivery plans.
6-20-11: Deliver the presents!!!

Describe what you see as the end result of your project. What will it look and feel like?  How does your project align with our mission and goals as a class?

I see me and Gabby surprising Mrs. Durrant with a giant poster signed by all of her students.  I also see her opening up a bag of good-bye presents filled with a ton of goodies.  I want to give Mrs. Durrant a nice going away present.  Since she is a great teacher, I want to say thanks to her for all that she has done at her time at AHS.  I am imaging getting as many freshmen and sophomores (because those are the two classes she has taught) as I can to sign the poster.

What are the obstacles and or challenges that you are anticipating when working on your project?

I was thinking of when to present the poster and goodies to her, but I am not sure when would be the best time.  I am not sure when would be the best time because I don’t just want to barge into the middle of class with a giant poster and gifts.  I would rather do it at a more appropriate time.  I was thinking of working something out with the students in Science Olympiad and presenting it to her in the morning.  I am just not sure when would be the best time to give it to her.  I see the timing as my main obstacle.

What are the milestones that you are going to meet?

For this project I really only have one milestone, and that is presenting the poster and gifts to her.  I plan to do this on Friday.  I really want to make the sign really pretty and colorful.  I also want to get a lot of students to sign it.  I want Mrs. Durrant to know that she’s going to mist and that she has done a lot for the students here at Aviation.

How will you ensure that you reach your project milestones on the dates listed above?  How do you think you will overcome these foreseen obstacles?

This is one of the last projects I have to do for my freshman year and I am extremely motivated to get this project done and to make it very successful.   I want this project to go really smoothly and for everything to get done on time.  I want to overcome the timing obstacle, so I am going to talk to Gabby and also some people in Science Olympiad to see if it’s possible for me to present the poster and gifts to her.

What materials are you going to need to successfully carry out your project?
I am going to need colorful paper and plenty of art supplies to be able to make the poster.  I will need many willing students for people to sign.  I am also anticipating giving Mrs. Durrant a wonderful going away present.  I was thinking maybe a nice aviation themed mug, a Starbucks card, and some tea.
What things are you going to need besides materials to be successful in your project?
I will need a lot of support from my fellow classmates.  I’ll need them to sign the gigantic poster that I’m making.  I’ll also maybe need some of them to present the poster and gifts with me.
How many people will need to help you in your project?
I was thinking of presenting Mrs. Durrant her going away gifts sometime when her students are around.  I need people who have had her as a teacher to help me say thank you to her.  There would be people who would sign the giant poster and that would be a big help.  Also, though, I actually need people to be there when I give her the gifts so they can help me say thanks to her.
What is your plan to hold yourself and your group accountable for the success of the project?
I want to get this project done and I know that not doing it is not an option.  I am often going to check in with my group members and make sure they are involved with the entire process of this project.

Thanks Teahers!!!--Post Project Reflection :)

Post Reflection Blog

Name: Molly

Project Name:  Thank you, Teachers

At the beginning of this project, I really wanted to provide delicious sweets for the teachers to enjoy.  I baked for them twice, once towards the beginning of May, and once at the beginning of June.  In May, I made triple chocolate cupcakes and in June, I made cookie bars.  I worked really hard to bake them and hope the teachers really enjoyed them.  My project turned out perfectly because I made really yummy sweets for the teachers to eat.  They turned out delicious and on time.
My project was simple, but important and effective.  There was not much that could go wrong with it.  Everything turned out smoothly and didn’t encounter any roadblocks.
There were many things that went well with my project.  When I was baking the treats, the process went smoothly and nothing was burnt.  The treats also tasted amazing.  I am really happy that the teachers liked my treats and that everything got eaten up.  For my next project I do like this, I would want to keep it pretty much the same because the process went so smoothly.  I would not want to fix something that wasn’t broken by changing the process.
This project was a really good project because it taught me how to take time to thank the teachers who work hard to help me learn.  It helped me improve my leadership skill and took initiative to thank teachers in the middle of the year.
For my next project I was actually thinking of doing something for Mrs. Durrant. She is leaving at the end of the year and I really want to do something special for her so she could remember her time at Aviation.

My Second Help Project!!

Name: Molly Walsh

Project Leader Name:  Gavin

Project Name:  Spring Egg Hunt

Project Milestone Dates: April 22, 2011

What is the objective of this project?

This project is for a spring egg hunt.  We hid eggs and then let the whole school search for them.  There were a lot of them and there was candy hidden insided of them.  It was meant for a celebration of spring and have a fun activity for the students.

What is your role going to be in the project?

I was put to the task of making posters and advertising for the event.  I made a lot of posters that were hung up all over the school.  They told all of the information about the event and encouraged people to participate in the egg hunt.

How are you and your group going to hold eachother accountable for work getting done throughout the project?

We had to make sure that everyone did their part or else the egg hunt would not go right.  I had to make my posters so that people would know about the egg hunt and the people stuffing the eggs had to fill the eggs in time.  Also, the hiders had to hide the eggs before the egg hunt started, or the egg hunt would not be a big success.

What do you see as being the largest obstacle in your way to success?  What do you see as being an obstacle for your group?

I made posters and advertised, so it's possible that people didn't see the postsers or did not hear about the egg hunt.  I think that an obstacle for the project itself was that people didn't join the egg hunt, Fortunatly, though, it turned out that there were a lot of people that joined the hunt.

What is the plan for overcomming these obstacles?

I thing we just tried the best we could and we did our best to make the best spring egg hunt that we possibly could.  Luckily, the egg hunt was a great success and it all worked out.

The picture below is of Gavin and his helpers stuffing eggs with candy.  Although I made signs for his project this is a piece of the process of the project.

A Helping Hand...My Helping Projects!!

Hey!!!  Okay, so here is a list of people I am helping with so far:

I helped Gavin on his spring egg hunt project with making signs and advertising.

I am helping Ellen on her pet food drive.  I am making signs for hers as well, and I may come in the cafeteria on some morings to help her collect the food.

I still have one more project that I need to help with, but I am not quite sure which one yet.  I may help a class clean up tomorrow, but I am not sure if that will work out yet.  I guess I will just have to see as time goes on.

Doggie Food--Help Project One

Name:  Molly Walsh

Project Leader Name:  Ellen Jetland

Project Milestone Dates:  May 2-May 13

What is the objective of this project?

The objective for this project is to get students at Aviaton to donate pet food for the Seattle Animal Shelter.  The dogs and cats there are in need of food and the shelter is accepting donations for the animals.  Ellen, the leader of the project voulnteers at the animal shelter and is compelled to help the dogs and cats in in need.  Along with being a pet food drive, this project is going to be a competition between the grades.  Each person that donates gets spirit points that goes to the grade that they are in.

How does your project align with our mission and goals as a class?

In leadership we are encouraged to think about other people than ourselves and to help the needy.  These pets at the Seattle Animal Shelter are in need of food and it is possible that Aviation can help those pets get the food they need.

What is your role going to be in the project?

I have already made many posters for the pet food drive to advertise and let people know where and when the drive is.  I am also going to the cafeteria in the morning on some days and helping Ellen collect the food that people donate.

How are you and your group going to hold each other accountable for work getting done throughout the project?

I am going to help Ellen with whatever that she tells me to do.  Since she is the boss and I am helping her, I am just going to do whatever she needs help with.  Ellen is very passionate and excited about this project and will get all the work that needs to be done completed for the project.

What do you see as being the largest obstacle for your group?

I think that the largest obstacle is that not very many people will donate and or may not have pet food.  They may not have pets, so they do not have any pet food to bring.  Other people just may forget to bring food, or they may not know the drive is going on.

What is the plan for overcoming these obstacles?

To avoid the problem of people not donating, I want to make and hang a lot of signs so that the whole school knows about it so that they can donate.  Also, I will help spread it through word of mouth so that people will have another way of knowing about the drive, incase they didn't see the posters.

Thank You Teachers!!!--My First Milestone :D

Hey!!!  Just yeseterday I completed my first milestone by baking cupcakes for the teachers, which I did on Sunday.  I then delivered them to the teacher's lounge first thing on Monday Morning.  It was really exciting because everything went really smoothly and I was able to get the cupcakes to the teachers with no problem.  Also, I heard from all my teachers that the triple chocolate cupcakes were super delicious!!!  It makes me happy to hear that the teachers really appreciated them and I can't wait to make more baked goods for them later in the year.  I am going to bake goodies one more time for the teachers before this project is over.  I am thinking its going to be around June 2.  It this project goes as well the second time as it did the first time, then I will have nothing to worry about.

Hello Cupcake!--First Independent Project Outline!!! :)

Name: Molly Walsh (I am doing this project with Gabby.)

Project Title: Operation Cupcake!

Project Time Table:

Start on:  May 2

Finish by: June 7

Milestone dates: May 1, May 2, June 2, and June 7

Mentor or advisor for project:

Phone number and or email for mentor/advisor:

1. Describe what you see as the end result of your project.  What will it look/feel like?  How does your project align with our mission and goals as a class?

Last semester, I came up with this really good IP to do, which was make baked goods for the teachers to have as a sort of appreciation for all of their hard work.  This semester, I am teamed up with Gabby, and this time instead of baking cookies for the teachers, she suggested we bake cupcakes.  My goal is to bake cupcakes for the teachers this semester!  I want to bake the cupcakes and give the baked goods to them as a token of my appreciation for them and as sort of a “thank you” for all of the hard work they have done.  I did this project last semester in leadership and I have to say that it was a pretty big success.  The teachers really liked and appreciated it and I had a lot of fun baking the treats and getting the giant card for them signed.  By the start of the day on May 2 and 27, I want to see the teachers at AHS eating and enjoying delicious cupcakes homemade by me and Gabby.  In leadership, I feel like it is important to do kind things for other people and to give back.  This is just a small way to say thank you to the teachers that work so hard.

2. What are the obstacles and or challenges that you are anticipation when working on your project?

This project is a great one to do, because there is very little that can really go wrong, but it is still an important one to do.  Also, it is very fun because I like to bake as much as I can.  Also, this time it is going to be even better and more successful than last time because Gabby and I are both leading this project.  The few things that can go wrong are:

©      The cupcakes can get burnt
©      The cupcakes do not turn out the way they are supposed to
©      The teachers won’t enjoy them as much as last time
©      Something happens to them when they are being transported
3. What are the milestones that you are going to meet?  Be detailed.

When deciding when to give the teachers the cupcakes, we wanted a time that was not too soon, so we could plan ahead, but also not too far in the future so that we would not be cutting it too close to the end of the year.  I was also thinking that since this time Gabby is helping me, that we could give cupcakes to the teachers twice.  I decided that the dates would be at the very beginning of May and the very start of June.  That way we could bake the cupcakes for the teachers twice, but there would be enough space in between the two times that it wouldn’t be a surprise.  Also, we wanted to leave enough time to finish the project without cutting it super close to the deadline.

4. How will you ensure that you reach your project milestones on the dates listed above?  How do you think you will overcome these foreseen obstacles?

I think that the obstacles that I face for this project are so not important that it will be not hard to overcome them.  I stated above just a few minor concerns, but I’m pretty sure that they are not really a problem.  Most of these obstacles are classified under freak-accident territory because Gabby and I can easily take proper measures to not burn the cupcakes supervise the baking process to ensure that they are prepared as planned.  I am pretty positive that nothing is really going to harm these cupcakes on the way to the teacher’s lounge.  As for the teachers not liking them…who doesn’t like cupcakes?!
I am going to stick to the deadlines, because Gabby and I will plan ahead and are going to schedule the appropriate times to bake the cupcakes.  I will make sure I remember when I am supposed to make the cupcakes and do whatever I can to make sure I follow through on my word.

5. What materials are you going to need to successfully carry out your project?

I am going to need all the ingredients that are required for cupcake making.  This includes things like eggs and frosting and cupcake liners.  Luckily, though I usually carry all of those ingredients in my house.  I am pretty sure that making these cupcakes for the teachers will not cost me any money.

6. What things besides materials are you going to need to be successful in your project?

I don’t think that I will really need anything besides myself and the ingredients for this project.  This IP just requires Gabby and me to bake the cupcakes and bring them into the teacher’s lounge.

6. How many people will need to help you in our project?  What do you see their roles being?

I think that Gabby and I will be okay by ourselves for this project.  Cupcakes do not require too many people making them if there are just a few dozen at the most to make.  It is really fun to make cupcakes and I am really excited to be able to bake them for the teachers.

7. What is your plan to hold yourself and our group accountable for the success of the project?

I will make sure that I hold myself up to the deadlines.  I am going to plan out when to make them and allot time for myself to do so.  If by some really strange and unlikely reason that something goes wrong with the timing or the cupcakes, then I will just reschedule a time for Gabby and I to bake the cupcakes again.

The Time Has Come...Again!

Well, its been a while, but here comes the time for more leadership blogs!! I have just started planning my IP's and solidifying what I want to do.  This semester, I am not alone with my projects! Gabby and I are doing a teacher appreciation thing that I did last semester where I baked cookies for all of the teachers.  It was a big success and I really want to do the again...except this time we'll be baking cupcakes.  So, yeah, Gabby and I will be baking up a storm some time in the near future.  Another blog will follow with my offial plan for that project.  My other IP I am going to do is with Gavin and we are planning on conducting an Easter egg hunt.  Since we just emailed Mr. Mccomb about it today, I am not sure if we are going to be able to do it yet, but I am hoping he will approve us.

Mmmmm...Cookies--Lead Project Reflection #3

Well, after some deep thought, I decided that I would start a third lead project instead of a third help project.  I hope this is okay.  This project was a good idea, but it did not take too long either.

What I did was I made a HUGE thank you card for all of the teachers.  I also had a lot of students sign it to give it a personal touch.  In addition to the card, I made a gigantic plate of cookies to munch on throuout the day.

Since it is finals week and the teachers are busy trying to get all of the final grades in, I thought it would be a nice treat for them.

I would have to say, that this went amazingly smoothly.  I was actually shocked at how well this whole process went.  I made the card and pretty much everyone I asked to sign it did, which I am very grateful for.  Also, I am impressed at how well the cookies turned out.  I got thank you's from teachers throughout the day saying how much they loved them.

In my opinion, this  project was a success and much appreciated.  It was a fun project to do and just a nice suprise.  Also, it is a project I can do in the future.  If I did choose to do it again, though, I may decide to expand in the baked goods department.  I may make a different kind of cookie or possibly make a different dessert althogether.  The possibilities are endless.

This is a sweet and well liked project that is both enjoyable to do, but is also loved by the teachers.

Loads of Clothes--Second Lead Project Reflection!!!

Hello!

This week I had an ongoing clothing drive to benefit people who are less fortunate than we are.  I hung up signs, spread the word, and posted reminders of Facebook to inform people about the clothing drive.  I guess all of my methods of advertising worked, because each day, when I went to the office to check on the drive there were more and more clothes in the box as the week went on!  It was very exiting to see the box overflowing at the end of the week with a huge amount of clothes just ready to be donated.  I was so happy that people donated to such a wonderful cause!

In the future, I might hold the drive for a longer time period.  Since it was close to the end of the semester, I only held it through this week, but in the future, I might get more donations if I hold the drive for a longer period.  Also, if I annonced it in person more, more people may have donated.  Maybe if I put some information about it in the NOTAM or I went around to the adviserites, then even more people may have donated.  But, for the week I held the drive, I am very happy with its outcome.

What went well was that even though the drive lasted only four days, I collected many bags full of clothes to help the needy.  I learned yet again, that advertising is key. Just putting a box in the office and letting it sit there is not going to cut it.  You need to tell people and spread the word.  The key to a successful anything is to let people know about it.  What I may improve upon in the future, is making the drive longer.  I got a lot of donations in the week I held it, but I can't help thinking that I would have gotten more if it were longer.

I still need to find a place to donate too.  I ended the drive just yesterday and need to find a place for the clothes to go.  When I get back to school, I might sort through the clothes and see where the best place to take it would be.  Maybe if there are mostly women's clothes, I may ask a women's shelter or Hospitlality House if they want them.  I guess I will have to do some research to see where the best place to donate them is.

The pros of this clothing drive are:

-People who are in need can receive clothes in this tough ecinomic period

-Students can get rid of their unused clothes that were otherwise going to waste

-It encourages students to think about the needy, and what they can do to help them

-I got a lot of clothes to give to the less fortunate

There are few cons to the clothing drive.  One worry before the drive started was that there were not going to be enough donations, but now that the sale is over, that is not a worry anymore.

Yummy!--A Thought About What I Can Do For Another Lead Project!

So, I was thinking earlier, and I hatched a brilliant idea for a lead independent project.  I can have a teacher appreciation day where I make a big giant "thank you" card and get a lot of students to sign it and then present it to the teachers in the teacher's lounge.  Then, to make it even better, I make a bunch of baked goods like cookies or brownies so that they can have a nice treat.

It is finals week after all, and the teachers are busy and a bit stressed getting final grades in.  It may be a bit of a pick-me-up for them to receive wonderful and delicious baked goods.  I love to bake and it might be a fun thing to do, also it would not take me very long or cost me anything since I already have anything I would need to bake on hand at home.

I would plan to give them the card and desserts on Thursday, the last day of the semester.  That would give me tomorrow night to bake, which would be more than enough time, I can bake amazing desserts in a suprisingly quick amount of time.

Now, my only road block would be if I am not allowed to distribute homemade baked goods to anyone.  I am not sure what the rules on that are, so if it just so happens that I cannot bake anything, I can always get the desserts from the store.  It would be a sweet project to do, and I am sure that it would be greatly appreciated by all involved.

Valentines Day--My Second Help Project!!!

Hello!

Just today I completed my second "help" project in Leadership class.  After taking some time to scrape some tape off the walls of AHS, I decided to help out with the fast approaching Valentine's Day party.  I helped Sarah, I am pretty sure she is the one in charge of planning the pary.

I painted a very big and noticable sign  to advertise for the party.  It will help gather attention and entice people to attend.  I learned to make the event look inviting and to relay all the information, so people will know when and where the event is.  As I have learned from past projects, advertising is key if you want a successful event.

The party is the Friday before Valentine's Day and I want as many people as possible to attend. I hope to maybe help make some more decorations on Thursday, before the class goes to peer tutoring.

Just Checking In!

Hello!

I have just decided to update my blog since I have not done it for a while.  As far as my second project, the clothing drive goes, I think I am going to put a box in the office for people to put clothes into.  I think Wendy has a toy drive box, so I think I will put it next to hers.  I am planning on starting this Thursday and then continue into next week.  I will advertise like crazy for this and make sure that people know that there is a drive going on and that they know where to donate.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that I am working with Wendy on her toy drive?  I am, but I still need a third project to help with. So, I will need to keep my eyes out for a third one to help with!!!

Keeping Warm--Proposal For Lead Project#2

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

I want to hold a week long clothing drive and donate the clothes to Hospitality House, since now, more than ever, they are in such a great need.  I want to encourage the students of AHS to give to such a wonderful cause.  I am also going to entice them by offering hot chocolate to whoever donates.  It will be an extra motivation to donate to the drive.  In these hard times it is crucial that people remember that there are people less fortunate than us and that we need to help them in any way we can.

NEED

Hospitality House is a women-only shelter that provides a safe, warm enviornment to women for up to three months.  It is a new beginning for them to start the rest of their lives, far away from the cold and dirty streets.  It provides them with shelter, food and hope that they will improve their life.  Hospitality house gets women back on their feet and helps them gain the abitlity to function in stable and affordable housing once they leave the house.  Relying on donations from the public for a lot of their supplies, Hospitality House is constantly in desperate need of womens clothes.  With our help, the shelter could aquire some good winter clothes, leaving them with one less thing to worry about for a while.

OBJECTIVE

I plan on holding a week long clothing drive to benefit the women who currently reside at the Hospitality House which is located in Burien.  Hospitality House is a women only shelter that desperatly and constantly needs clothing donations.  Holding the drive will greatly help the women with warmth in these freezing winter months.  I want to hold the drive in the next few weeks, giving time for advertising and preparing for the drive. Also, I may want to get in contact with someone at Hospitality House asking them what they need the most.  I really want this project to be successful.  That means getting as many clothes as possible.  I visualize collecting as many winter womens clothes as possible.  I am going to try to spread the word far and wide so people will know to donate.  The women of Hospitality House are in great need of clothes and their last worry should be where they are going to get their clothes from.  My main goals are to get students to donate what they can.  If they have any womens clothing that is not being used anymore they should donate it.  Also, I want to entice them to donate by offering some sort of treat.  I am thinking that if they donate, then I will give them a golden ticket.  On the last day of the sale, possibly at lucnch on that day, they can redeem their golden ticket for hot chocolate.  That way, people will want to donate their clothes.  I plan to hold the drive during lunch where people can bring the clothes to me and I will keep them in a box.  Then, I will give them the ticket for the hot chocolate on the last day.

METHOD

Before The Sale

1. Do some research on the shelter and find out what their greatest needs are.  Maybe email one of the workers to find out what they are lacking.
2. Spread the word.  Make signs.  Do anything and everything to let people know that the drive is going on and encourage them to donate.
3. Find a plausible way to have the students donate their clothes.
4. Find to distribute the hot chocolate and how I will get the hot chocolate itself.

During The Sale

1. Have students bring their clothes to me at lunch time.
2. In return, they will get a golden ticket redeemable for hot chocolate.
3. On the last day of the drive make hot chocolate avalable to the students with the golden ticket.
4. At the end of the drive, get the clothes to Hospitlality House.

To start off this week and next week I am going to spread the word like crazy to make sure everyone knows about the drive.  I am also going to find out the type of clothes that Hospitality House needs.  I need to find out how I am going to get the hot chocolate and what to contain it in.  These are I things I need to do to prepare for the following weeks. I am going to try to find funding for this and if there are any better options for treats.
I am trying to get the students of AHS to donate to the clothing drive.  I am going to make sure everyone knows about the clothing drive and entice them to donate.  I will make posters and flyers and I will also use Facebook to tell people.  I am going to try to make it inviting to give and make them want to give.  That is the point of the hot chocolate, to entice people to donate.  Hopefully people will want to give.

EVALUATION

I will measure my success based on how much clothes I get.  If I get one scarf, that is not a sucessful drive.  If I get multiple scarves, coats and other clothes, though, then I will consiter my drive a success.  I will ask around and make sure that AHS students would be intrested in a clothing drive and that it is something that they would want to do.

QUALIFICATION

First thing is I want to get into contact with someone from Hospitality House, just making sure what their greatest needs are and that we fulfill those needs.

When I do my drive, I need:
1. a table set up in a clear spot in the cafeteria
2. a large box to keep the clothes
3. hot chocolate and whipped cream to put on top
4. cups for the hot chocolate
5. a container to keep the hot chocolate

I am not sure exactly who is helping me, but I am pretty sure I will need some people to help me advertise, make signs and spread the word for the drive.  Also, I may need someone to help me collect clothes during lunch.

I am a good canditdite for this project because I care a lot about the women who are living at Hospitality House.  I like the whole program and what it does for the women.  I want to help the women in any way I can.  These women are getting a second chance at life and I want to help them get on with their lives.

TIMETABLE

The project will last one week and will go for January 17 to January 21.  At lunch everyday, I will be at a table in the cafeteria ready to  collect any clothes that people want to donate.  On the last day of the drive, January 21, I am going to have the hot chocolate for the people who have golden tickets.

Start Date: January 17 (students begin to bring clothes during lunch)
End Date: January 21 (this is the day students can redeem their  golden ticket for hot chocolate)

BUDGET

Okay, so this project should not cost to much.  All I really need are some cups for the hot chocolate and some hot chocolate and whipped  cream.  Also I will need a dispenser for the hot chocolate, but I recall seeing them around the school before.  So I am not sure if the school has any or where we can get them, but I am sure there is a way to find them.  My guess is that the cost of the items will be about $20-25.  Not really that much.  Since this is a clothing drive and people are giving and not buying, there is not much cost to it.  I may ask the ASB to fund the hot chocolate buying or I may just spend the money myself since it really isn't that much.

CONCLUSION

The Hospitality House is a wonderful amazing place that helps many women have a second chance at  life.  It is so very important that we help them in any way we can.  The women are in great need of clothes and it would be a horrible thing not to go through with the clothing drive.  Helping the women by suppling them with clothes helps them to focus more important things like on their future and their goals of making it on their own in a house instead of on the streets.

We Are All In This Together

YAAAAAYYY!!! I have successfully completed one of my lead projects.  I sold holiday grams for most of December and my project was a hit. :D

As for a second IP, I have some ideas in my mind, but I am sitll trying to figure out how the logistics would work and if they would have a chance at success.  I may need to do some research before I officially decide to do anything concrete.

I have also helped with one project and that was Emily's bowling night.  I announced in front of different classes the information about the bowling night and answered any questions people had about it.

I have yet to help with a second project or a third, for that matter.  Supposedly, I am helping Driskell with his project, but I have not heard about it in a while, so I am going to get to the botto of it in the following days.

As for a third...well, I still need to help on a third project.  I am not sure what I am going to do yet, but I will ask around in the next few days.  Okay, so I just talked to Wendy and she wants to help me with mine and I am going to help her with her toy drive that she is having, so now I have three projects that I am helping with. Yay!! :)

Get by with a Little Help

Okay, so so far I have helped Emily with her project, which was her bowling night the night before tolo.  To help adveritse, I went to different classrooms and told people about the bowling night.  I spoke to the students and made sure they knew when and where the bowling night was.  I also let them know that they could buy tickets in the cafeteria if they wanted to go bowling.  In addition to going to each classroom, I also spread the word to the freshmen class about the bowling night just when taling to them.  Helping spread the word helped increase sales for Emily's project.  Also, having me help advertise made it easier for her to get other necessary things done.  As I learned from my own IP, advertising is key to have a sucessful IP.  If no one knows that something is going to be sold or going on, then there is going to not be any sales.  But, since there was good adveritsing, Emlily's project was a success!!!

Heck of a Sale...

Oh my goodness!! After such a long time of planning, preparing, adverising and selling, my holiday grams are finally finished.  I spent the two weeks before Christmas break selling the grams before lunch.  Due to a ton of advertising and the word spreading well, I sold a lot of holiday grams.  At first though, I was worried because my first day sales were not so good.  After the first day, I made a huge point in advertising a lot more due to my determination to have a successful project.  I spread the word and told many people to buy.  I also asked people to tell their friends.  I hung up many flyers and posters throughout the school in many key places.  Also, prehaps my most important way of advertising was through Facebook.  Every night, I put on my status the information about the sale.  I am pretty sure that was my key to success.  Steadily my sales grew each day.  There were many people who bought one for all their friends and kept comming back each day.  I got to the point where I was selling out of tags and had to ask customers to come back the next day.  I would say that the key to the success on this project was the amazing advertising.  If a person wants to have a lot of sales, then people have to know that the sale is going on.  If I had not advertised very well, then my holiday grams may have not been a success.  When it came to sorting and delivering, I will be honest, I was really nervous that I wasn't going to get then out in time and the delivering would be a failure.  Thankfully, there were many eager hands ready to sort and deliver.  With the many people I had helping me, the task of sorting and delivering was a much less daunting task.  It was very challenging to get the sale up and running, but the whole process went shockingly smoothly and there is nothing that I would change.  Although at times it seemed that the entire project was going to go up in flames, everything seemed to fit at just the right time.  My holiday grams went better than I ever would have imagined and I am so grateful for that.

I would just like to thank anyone who helped me during the entire process of this project.  There were so any people who helped sort and deliver and I am so grateful to all of you.  Without your help, there is no telling which way the project would have gone.  Also, thank you so much to anyone who bought holiday grams.  Thank you so much for helping me make this project a sucess. :D
